Introducing McKenna Grace

It was 4:08 PM on Monday night and Kelly demonstrated to me yet again why I love her so much. She produced the BIGGEST suprise in the history of my life. It was truly a surreal moment.

As the doctor held the delivered baby up for everyone to admire, I heard several nurses proclaim, “What a big baby boy!” We have expected a boy, I talked about it all the time, so why would that sound foreign or odd?!?! It sounded odd because what I expected and what I was hearing even from the nurses did not match up with what I was seeing.

What I was seeing was a 9 lb. .4 oz. beautiful baby girl. Our doctor was the first to call the baby what it was, a girl! The whole room in unison said, “What?”

As much as we had been waiting for Luke Zachary, not a moment was lost in celebrating a 2nd girl! I have already accepted the fact that I am going to be super spoiled by these two cuties!

I cut the cord and held off our family until I could share the great news. Kourtney came running in wanting to check out the baby and she did too! They go together better than peanut butter and jelly, coffee and donuts, or any other two piece combo you have ever seen.

Tonight, I am finishing off these words out of sheer joy…joy for a wife that is a real champ, a daughter in Kourtney that has given us so many great moments, and now a daughter in McKenna Grace that has demostrated “the ability and graciousness of God!”

Congratulations to you and your family!!! Our second one was a suprisee too. We thought she was going to be a boy and we already had a name picked out as well. It was not until our fourth that we had a boy.
Children are an enormous blessing from God. Daddy’s girls are exceptionally special.

God’s surprises are always great–kind of like receiving an unexpected gift. Luke was expected; God sent McKenna, and what a doll baby she is. Two wonderful little girls for a wonderful family (Travis and Kelly)….what joy this brings Nana and Papa.
