Has anyone ever heard the term “hurricane fatigue?” What can you do? You can sulk or you can prepare. Storms come and there is nothing you can do to make them go away outside of prayer. Prepare and then get out of the path. It works the same spiritually as well as “tropically.”
So, if you came here today looking for some pastoral words of advice, here they are. Watch this thing for a bit more. Pray. If it looks like it is coming close, put up your shutters. If you need help, call the church office @ 305.247.0889. If you’ve gotten your own stuff taken care of and can help others board up, call the church office and we will match you with those needing help.
So far, all church services for the weekend are still on. As long as conditions are safe outside, we are going to worship! You won’t be able to keep me out of that place on Sunday morning as long as it is safe to drive.

Yep, Travis–there is a reason I live in Chicago!
Being a native Southerner, I never was particularly excited about tornadoes, hurricanes and the like.
Praying for God’s hand to protect all of you in South Florida.
You can always move “north” LOL
move north? nope. i was a missionary in that barren, fruitless land long enough. i already did my time.
Not exactly barren or fruitless here, Trav.
Love this place. Lots of snow, but no hurricanes….
Blessings.
sarcasm, phil, sarcasm.
Then again, I’m not the one complaining about the noise from festivals in Logan Square.
Chicago’s a great town. I miss it. I don’t miss shoveling out my driveway from under 23″ of snow so I can get my car out of the garage. I don’t miss getting stuck in a 3 hour commute because of snow or having to get a hotel after work because I can’t get in home.
yep….the “moving parking lot” called the Eisenhower Expressway…
or the Kennedy Expressway, or the Dan Ryan….
That’s why public transportation is so wonderful!
And yes, then there’s the snow….
I will never forget the first night Kelly and I moved into our apt. in Oak Park. I walked outside at 3 am and the Ike was totally backed up.
I hated driving that…salt and sand on the road, black snow piled up on the sides of the road…gotta love the tropics.
Don’t like hurricanes…
Sportswise or otherwise…LOL
And public transportation is the ONLY way to fly in the big cities, bro.
Yep the IKE is still backed up….
And so are the Kennedy, the Dan Ryan, the Stevenson, and the Edens….
That’s the big city for you.
