It is time for Tivo. The $5 monthly is definitely worth it to be able to grab a quick review of my latest reality addictions. Thursday night is the night where my Mom and Dad, Phillip and Marcella, my crew of four, and an occassional friend eats, hangs out, and catches up on the shows. The only thing that could be better in my world of reality tv fascination would be if The Ultimate Fighter (coming in August) and The Contender (coming in July) were also on. By the way, Peter Manfredo was robbed in the February ESPN Mora v. Manfredo match-up!
So, in the meantime, I’ll give you a quick rundown of the now thick (non-lame, non-Bachelor, non-Swan, non-Biggest Loser) reality season:
Apprentice - The Donald announces that the Apprentice will begin a rotation to Miami, LA, and Chicago for upcoming episodes. I have no early selections for winners. However, the dude from MENSA proved that while he may be a genius, he is no genius when it comes to street smarts.
Amazing Race - Starts Tuesday, Feb. 28th on CBS.
Survivor: Exile Island - Terry Dietz is my pick to win it all if he can make it to the merge. Terry is a Navy Fighter Pilot from Connecticut. He’s a leader and now that Ruth Marie is off their tribe, they have a fighting chance to win the physical challenges.
American Idol - Here are my top 4: Taylor Hicks, Chris Daughtry, Paris Bennet, and Kelly Pickler. Mandissa gave an awesome testimony of Christ’s grace to Simon. I believe Paris has the best voice of all. It is almost not fair that she is in the competition. Her grandmother is Gospel Artist, Ann Nesby. Paris has a smoother voice and just as good of a presentation. But, if any of the top 4 won, I’d be happy.

my other choice would be Mandissa. As you stated, she boldy proclaimed the Gospel. that’s bold considering the resistance from Hollywood. I would love to see a Christian take it all.
The hawaiian is a little off if you ask me. And the team is playing it off. I have a feeling that the guy who keeps talking about cigarettes is playing everyone. He may not be playing to win but he is playing to be famous, which would explain why he is acting completely off the wall.

To Kelly and AJ: I can’t wait either…see you tonight.
To Phil Hoover: I’ve tried to watch Dancing with the Stars. I saw the episode when Evander Holyfield was on. But, that’s it.
To Lewis: Mandissa is awesome. Paris is still the #1 girl. Kelly Pickler is a close 2. One guy that I failed to mention was Elliot Yamin. That guy can sing. He may be more gifted naturally than any of the other guys.
To the Anon: Mr. Miagi., the Hawaiian is loopy. The chain smoker is annoying. I think you are giving him more credit than he deserves. I don’t think he’s that shrewd.
kellie pickler is cute, i’ll give you that, but to put her in the top four contestants… thats just musically mistaken. I’ll give you this, she did much better this week than she did last, and she is cute… probably cute enough to make it into the top 6 girls, and she has a sad story, but when it comes to singing, i’m sorry… she’s not a very good singer. Without a doubt, Paris is the top girl, probably followed by Mandisa and Katharine McPhee; next, Lisa Tucker would be fouth… then comes Kellie. Granted this might not be the way they get voted, but is their singing ability. As far as the guys go, Chris Daughtry is the man right now. He’s doing awesome… his voice is recordable right now. Taylor Hicks is a cool cat too, completely original. Elliot Yamin is the best voice in the entire competition (guys and girls). Look out for Ace Young too… the girls love that guy, though he’s not a very good singer. Bottom line, there are four that can’t be touched and should be the final four; chris, taylor, paris and elliot.

If AI is about the best singer, Elliot Yamin or Paris Bennett will win. But, it is not. The whole marketing/Hollowood/popularity thing comes into play during the voting.

Well, as you have noticed, some who were extremely talented and sang well, were told by the judges that it was just another “good” song. However, others who were not as talented were praised for their ability to capture the judges as well as the audience. It is an entertainment industry!
Pickler’s overwhelming personality will take her to the top without AI. And, it’s not really about her looks (of course that does matter to Hollywood).
I agree with Trav. Elliot is the best “natural” talent. I mean, the guy told the judges he didn’t need to warm up his voice. Others were up early doing their voice exercises. That is extreme confidence in his ability to perform.
Brenna’s gone! hooray! She was just too obnoxious. Although they were not necessarily my favorites, I was sorry to see the others go. It’s going to be a tough season.
Paula was drunk, that is the word. Last night, did anyone see the nonsensical comments about melons and moths, salads and pizza? Then she would laugh when someone would get the boot. She was either drunk or high. I bet she would get along with old David Gregory.
