New Domain and Import Issues
I’m new to Typepad. I’ve been at blogger for the past 13 months and am finally making the change. To celebrate the move, I’ve registered a new domain, www.travisjohnson.net. Hopefully, I will have everything imported soon.

help me understand the thought behind the switch…. templates are better maybe? i have heard at least as much complaining about dependability of service with both blogger and typepad. and from what i hear, you have to pay for typepad – is that right? what made it worth the changeover to you?
i’m not doubting you – just curious. i’m at the 12.9 month age with mine and i’m just wondering what i’m missing out on.

I switched over because categories are so much easier. I have about 255 posts on my blogger account. Finding them is hard work via the Blogger search engine or the monthly archives.
Typepad has categories built in. Looking 4-5 years down the road, things will be much more available to me and others.
The standard Typepad templates are boring. But, the custom templates look promising.

that’s good enough for me. thanks for the explanation. i’m still trying to find the time to make a switch, but i really think i’m heading for wordpress when i do move.
that being said, i love the new look here. especially the sleek look on the pic of you. lookin’ way hip.

Thanks, Dan. Make sure you do have the time. I am messing around with typepad and I can’t stop…new toys I guess. Anyway, I’m hitting the sack…have to leave for the airport at 7AM and I still haven’t packed…hate packing!
