His Hands Church – Woodstock, GA

On Sunday, Kelly and our crew did some recon at His Hands Church in Woodstock, GA (Atlanta).  Steve Craig and his crew showed us all over, including Mission Control which consisted of a lot of cool gear and a rigged up XBox to distribute video throughout the building.

His Hands has a unique story.  Steve sold his business, went into ministry, and bought an $8 million KMart having no church and built one.  That was 2 years ago.  I’m guessing there were around 1,500 people there on Sunday.  It’s a great story of personal dedication to the mission of Jesus.  Most people closing in on age 50 don’t take their retirement, dump it, and start churches.

The environments were exceptional.  I found the prayer time to being especially meaningful.  I loved the Communion area.  The simplicity of the building was right up my alley.  The kids spaces were very attractive.  When you approach the building, you’re greeted by a series of statues, including a smiling Jesus.  I’m not exactly big on statues.  But, when Kourtney saw him, she said, “It’s Jesus!” and jumped into his arms…kind of a cool moment.  It was also cool to see a depiction of Jesus that wasn’t ticked off, looking like a girl, or sporting a halo.

Anyway, enjoy the few pics here or check them all out on the slideshow.

  5. Hi! The band starts at 10:00 and from then to 11, we sing, dance, pray and share the Lord’s Supper. The message begins around 11:00 to 11:30 ending with a great song! It’s SO wonderful. Lastly, feel free to come in after nine and enjoy coffee and bagels. It’s a great time to read scripture or just mingle and talk. It’s awesome!!

  7. Hey church people. I visited this last Sun. I really enjoyed the message and music.
However I was not greeted by one person. I would have loved to made some new friends but the first time I talked with anyone was on my way out at the end a girl said thankyou for coming. Now I’m not unsaved and I’m not in dire need of counselling. I’m a children’s pastor. This was just FYI to ya. It was an awesome service none the less

  8. I am one of the volunteers who cut hair last week at the “Give a Kid a Chance” event last weekend, though I did the cutting at the Boys/Girls Club in Canton.

This is a request for your pastor to announce the Blood Drive we are hosting on 7/28 from 2-7 at Canton 1st United Methodist Church, during your services on Sunday. I will be scheduling appointments and may be reached at 770 720-8254, though we are happy to take walk-in appointments.

The blood banks are in critical need of blood supply. They are trying to operate with 20% of the supply that is actually needed for day-to-day operations.

    Thank you for your help.

  11. We visited your church this past Sunday. We so enjoyed the service. I felt like I was at a rock concert w/o the bad influences. We have searched high and low for a church that we are comfortable with, and believe that we have found it. How good it feels to leave church actually feeling good about yourself. The message so hit the spot for our family in these times. My husband was amazed that there was no offering plate passed around. He actually had to find where to put it. We will be back. What a comfortable feeling we got. Thank you
